STATEMENT 6/6/8

The police are not attempting to cancel the 2008 Isle of Anglesey Motorcycle Show, although in a meeting between the police, the showground committee and Steve they did say that they have a few “concerns” and might attempt a charge for extra policing.

The Isle Of Anglesey Motorcycle Show is unlike any other bike show in the country.

We work with the local racetrack who have activities such as club car racing and motorcycle track days booked over the whole weekend.

We also work with the local indoor and outdoor go-kart tracks.

If you want to watch or take part in any of these activities then we run FREE shuttle bus services from the site to each venue.

We have bands in the main hall on Friday, Saturday and Sunday nights backed up by Russ Page.

THIS YEAR WE ARE INTRODUCING AN ADULT COMEDY CLUB.

Run by Rick Hulse and featuring some of the best stand up comics in the country.

We will have the usual static bike and trike display, daytime entertainment, trade stands and stalls, tattooists, food vans etc.

This is one of the few rallies in the country where we set aside an area for a children’s mini moto’s and quads play area.

The rally takes place close to some of the best biking roads and most spectacular scenery in Britain.

Because of the massive loss we suffered following the cancellation of the “Welsh” show we are going to need all the support we can get to survive.

PLEASE SUPPORT THIS RALLY

If you can't make the show and would like to support the campaign to ensure the future of the Welsh shows you can donate through paypal using admin@welshmotorcycleshows.co.uk or directly by contributing to the buckets you will see at events all over the country.

THE BACKGROUND
The committee of the RWAS cancelled the show on the 13th of May, seven working days before we were due to open.
They did it because of the advice and information they got in two private meeting with Dyfed-Powys Police.
I was not invited to either meeting.
I couldn't answer the points the police made in these meetings because they made them "Confidential".
The police didn't go through the courts or the licencing system.

I have lost about £80,000 because of the cancellation.
If we don't have a case against the committee/police I will lose my house because of this.
There is no organisation, no club, no big business behind our shows.
I work out of my house and when I have no income from the shows (like now) I go to work like everybody else.
At the moment as a security guard on £5.80 an hour.

I will have to pay back the advanced ticket money, the stall holders booking fees, the food vendors pitch fees and the bar companies deposit.
I have already lost all the money spent on advertising, advanced (non refundable) booking fees for all the equipment and services,
printing for tickets, day passes etc etc, the list is really long.

We are selling the badges and patches that we had made for the rally to try and raise some money.

Gary at "Far Canal" has T/Shirt prints and he will do a mail order if anyone would like a shirt.

If you see any "SUPPORT WELSH SHOWS" collections at any rallies or bike shops please throw in a quid.

WHAT DO I WANT FROM YOU
We don't have any money to advertise the Anglesey Show.
Please send this to as many people, forums, show listings etc as possible.

WMS Statement 14/5/08

For reasons known only to the police and the committee of the RWAS, the committee have after consultation with Dyfed-Powys Police decided to cancel The Welsh International Motorcycle Show.

Welsh Motorcycle Shows Ltd was not involved in those consultations.

W.M.S Ltd apologises for any inconvenience caused to our customers and traders by the cancellation of the event.

W.M.S ask that we be allowed time to consider the legal and financial implications of the cancellation before we make decisions regarding the companies future actions.

WMS statement 19/5/08.

In an effort to inform people of our current situation and in an effort to counter some of the more inaccurate press reporting we have issued the following statements.

The case is currently in the hands of our solicitors.
The legal system doesn't move quickly and there are procedures to follow.

The show was cancelled by the Committee of the Royal Welsh Agricultural Society after consultation and presentations by Dyfed-Powys Police.

We did not attend and were not given the opportunity to attend those meetings.

No member of "The Hells Angels MC" or "The Outlaws MC" has ever been banned from attending any of our events.
In common with most motorcycle shows we have a policy of "Back patch clubs by prior arrangement".
Neither club had expressed any interest in attending the "Welsh International Motorcycle Show 2008"

I would like to thank all those members of clubs, biking organisations, traders, support crews and the hundreds of private individuals who have expressed their support in the last few days.
As you can understand this has been a very difficult and troubled few days and that support has not only been very welcome it has at times been the only thing keeping me going.
Steve
